Most people these days will be familiar with dental implants, artificial replacements designed to serve as tooth roots, which are placed into the jawbone. They can be used to provide support for dentures (false teeth), crowns (caps), and bridges (multiple crowns joined together) which provide solutions to pretty much everyone. However, in cases where there is insufficient bone available, bone grafts may be answer to enhance the bone structure and make dental implant possible.
As the medical field continues to explore innovative advancements in bone augmentation, collaboration among researchers, clinicians, and biomedical engineers is essential as well as education and training for healthcare professionals. By remaining informed and proficient in the newest techniques, practitioners can deliver the highest standard of care and enhance patient outcomes and at Inspired Dental Care our team has got this covered.
With a highly experienced team supporting him, André has already achieved the highest levels of certification and training in the UK but continues to constantly update his knowledge with courses, ensuring their patients receive the best and latest treatments available.
Types of dental bone grafts
There are two main types of bone grafting: Minor Bone Grafting and Major Bone Grafting and whilst up to a few years ago major bone grafts would normally involve harvesting bone from other part of the jaws or body with general anaesthetic, these days even major bone grafts can be performed without having to consider those kind of major surgical procedures when the latest technique and technologies are used.
At Inspired Dental Care our expert dentist is extensively trained in providing these treatments and using the latest technologies by using mainly human and animal products we are able to tackle almost every single case and deliver the treatments the patients need to restore their smile and function.
In most cases, bone from other human donors or ethically harvested from animals can serve as a graft with equally successful results. Some synthetic products are also available for cases where for a specific reason the other two types might not be feasible of being used.
During the planning stages, we will share detailed information regarding any products to be considered, including their sources and compositions. At Inspired Dental Care, we encourage all patients to engage in discussions about the various material options with us to make well-informed choices.
What do our patients have to say!?
When speaking to one of our recent Implant patients who required bone augmentation procedures to enable their implant case, they said that the procedure had truly transformed their life.
“Having a dental implant has given me the confidence to smile, eat whatever I’d like; something which I have not been able to do for a long time and it has meant I can look my best for as long as I can”
“Anyone, who is ever in any doubt I would say to them, ’go for it’- It is a long process, sometimes with a lot of discomfort but at the end of the day it’s wonderful! I look in the mirror at myself and think I look wonderful. It’s given me so much confidence”
This success story is one of many reasons why at Inspired Dental Care we believe the treatments we provide can have a massive positive impact on a person’s quality of life.
But..how expensive is bone grafting and bone augmentation?
Whilst some major augmentation procedures might cost ££££ and take many months to settle before other procedures can be performed, most grafting procedures are not that expensive and do not significantly increase the cost of dental implant treatment. However, we understand that dental implants and associated treatments such as bone augmentation can impose significant financial stress in the short-term, which is why we also provide 0% finance plans. This allows you to spread the cost of high-value treatments, making them more accessible for those who prefer to pay in monthly instalments. We firmly believe that everyone deserves access to quality care and treatments, regardless of their current financial circumstances.
