Restore your smile with confidence!

In the world of modern dentistry, dental implants have revolutionised the way we restore missing teeth, improve aesthetics and function. Uncomfortable dentures or bridges that don’t match the feel of natural teeth are no longer the only answers. Dental implants offer a fixed, long-term solution that not only restores your smile but also improves your oral health and wellbeing. Dental implants have an overall success rate of over 95% at 10 years and are a fantastic replacement option for an already missing tooth or as an immediate replacement after an extraction of a natural tooth.

What are dental implants?
Dental implants are usually (in lay terms) a sort of conical root made of titanium that is surgically implanted into the jaw bone (beneath the gum line) to serve as artificial roots for teeth replacement. These implants provide a strong foundation for crowns, bridges or overdentures – allowing them to function and look just like natural teeth. Unlike conventional dentures or bridges which sit on the gums or are anchored to adjacent teeth, implants fuse with the jaw bone through a process called osseointegration, providing stability and durability.

Benefits of dental implants

  • Improved appearance – Dental implants look and feel like natural teeth, restoring your smile and facial structure;
  • Enhanced comfort and functionality – Unlike removable dentures, implants are fixed and function just like natural teeth, allowing you to eat, speak and smile with confidence;
  • Preservation of jaw boneImplants stimulate the jaw bone which prevents bone loss preserving facial structure.
  • Durability and longevity With proper care, dental implants can last for an extremely long time, making them a cost-effective solution for long term results.
  • Convenience – Unlike conventional dentures which may require adhesive and can be hard to clean, dental implants can be brushed and flossed just like natural teeth;
  • Low biological cost Unlike traditional tooth replacement options, implants don’t require adjacent teeth to be filed down, preserving your natural tooth structure;
  • Improved speech Unlike removable options, such as dentures, implants do not move when you speak, helping speech to be clear;
  • Enhanced chewing abilityImplants function similar to natural teeth, allowing you to eat your favourite foods without limitations or difficulty;
  • Improved self-esteem Dental implants can restore confidence by giving you a natural-looking and functional smile.

The process
Your initial, complimentary consultation will be held either in-person or virtually with one of our implant treatment coordinators. This gives you a great opportunity to ask any initial questions, discussion prices and finance plans.

On your following consultation, your implant expert will evaluate your oral health and create a customised treatment plan based on your needs and preferences. Once the treatment plan is mutually agreed, the surgical appointment(s) will be scheduled. At this stage the dental implants are surgically placed into the jaw bone, where they will be left undisturbed to fuse with the bone for a specific length of time depending on the case. Once osseointegration (bone healing) has occurred,  the custom-made crowns, bridges or overdentures are attached to the dental implants, completing the restoration process. Follow-up care will then be provided as necessary to ensure the longevity of the treatment.

Who can have implant treatment?
While most individuals with good oral health are candidates for dental implants, certain factors such as gum disease, insufficient bone density, specific medications or medical conditions may affect eligibility. Your implant expert will evaluate your oral health and medical history to determine if dental implant treatments are the right option for you. Most over 18’s who are in good health and have enough bone in the jaw to support the dental implant can be suitable candidates for dental implant treatment. However, certain medications can also affect the success of dental implant treatment in addition to uncontrolled medical conditions. A suitably qualified dental surgeon can determine if you are suitable for the treatment and if implant placement would be safe for you.

Aftercare and maintenance
Proper care and maintenance are essential for the long-term success of dental implants. This includes daily brushing and flossing, regular oral health examinations and hygiene appointments and avoiding habits such as smoking, which can compromise the integrity of the dental implants. It is normal to experience mild discomfort after dental implant surgery, including swelling of the gums and face along with bruising of the skin and gums.
