What is a dental nurse?

A dental nurse is an integral member of the dental team, providing chairside assistance and support to our wonderful dentists, dental hygienists and dental therapists. All of our fantastic dental nurses here at Inspired Dental Care make it their number one priority to offer reassurance and comfort to our patients throughout their treatment and will always greet you with a welcoming smile.

(Dental nurses are also known as chief hand-holders, patient pleasers, smile givers and multi-tasking superheroes!)

We would like you to meet Brittany, one of our qualified dental nurses who has undergone extensive training to allow her to extend her duties within the practice.

Brittany joined the Inspired Team back in 2017 as an apprentice dental nurse and has since gained her dental nurse qualification and further qualifications in dental radiography, implant dental nursing and suturing. Brittany has also undertaken 1-2-1 training with well-known dental companies such as Invisalign (tooth straightening), Straumann (dental implants) and Enlighten (tooth whitening) to ensure she always has the most up to date training and knowledge to provide our patients with the best care possible. Brittany is Inspired’s treatment coordinator, meaning she oversees all complex treatments such as orthodontics, implantology and sedation. If you are undergoing any of these treatments, Brittany is always at hand to provide you with anything you may need.

Brittany is also Inspired’s CQC registered Clinical Manager and “loves the diversity” of her role. Brittany manages our social media and marketing for the practice, she loves sharing your smiles and selfies!

In the early part of 2022 Brittany opened her own clinic here at the practice and has begun seeing patients herself. You may be booked in with Brittany for a variety of reasons like dental radiography, intra-oral scanning, suture removals, initial consultations or even clinical photography.

You may also see Brittany chairside along with one of our clinicians assisting in the more complex treatments, such as implant placements or sedation. No matter the reason for your appointment with Brittany, she is sure to welcome you into her surgery with a big smile. Brittany also plays an important role in the training and development of trainee dental nurses.

We are very proud to have a dental nursing practitioner and treatment coordinator here at Inspired and we fully encourage and support all of our dental nurses to diversify their job roles and provide a harmonious and inclusive approach to dentistry. Our dentists would be lost without our nurses!

Brittany was awarded ‘Highly Commended Best Dental Nurse 2021’ at the Private Dentistry Awards and was also a finalist in the Dentistry Awards 2021.

Brittany has been put forward yet again for a further two awards in 2022. We are sure you will join us in wishing Brittany the best of luck!
