Charity Work at Inspired Dental Care: A Year of Giving Back

At Inspired Dental Care, we believe in going above and beyond for our patients and community. While our primary role is to provide exceptional dental care, we also recognise the importance of supporting causes that bring about positive change. Throughout 2024, Inspired Dental Care has organised and participated in various charity events, helping raise funds and awareness for causes that matter to us, our patients, and the wider community. From charity quiz nights to sweepstakes, here’s a look back at the inspiring charity work we’ve been involved in this year.

Wear It Pink Friday for Breast Cancer Awareness
One of the key charity events we took part in this year was Wear It Pink Friday in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This annual event is dedicated to raising vital funds for breast cancer research, and it encourages individuals and organisations to wear pink in solidarity with those affected by the disease.

At Inspired Dental Care, we already wear pink scrubs as part of our everyday uniform, so embracing the colour for this special occasion was an easy choice. But we didn’t stop there. We went all out, with everyone wearing their brightest and most colourful pink attire. To add a little extra fun, we organised a Guess the Weight of the Cake sweepstake, inviting patients to guess how much our special pink cake weighed, with all proceeds going to breast cancer research.

Adding a little extra joy to the event, Shauna brought in her adorable cockapoo, Marnie, to make a surprise appearance at the clinic. Marnie was an instant hit, and her presence made the day even more memorable for everyone involved.

Breast cancer is a cause that is close to many hearts, with 1 in 7 women in the UK diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. In addition to wearing pink, we’re proud to have played a small part in supporting the work of charities dedicated to funding breast cancer research and improving the lives of those affected.

Inspired Dental Care’s Big Fat Charity Quiz Night
Another highlight of the year was Inspired Dental Care’s Big Fat Charity Quiz Night, organised by our very own Shauna. This fun-filled evening brought together friends, family, and colleagues for a night of friendly competition—all in the name of charity.

The quiz night featured some truly exciting categories, including Pop Culture Round, Guess the TV Intro Round, and Exeter Round. The Exeter round was a particular hit, with questions such as “What is the name of the giraffe at the Exeter Museum?” and “How much is entry to Timepiece Club?” These questions were tailored to the local crowd, ensuring that real Exeter fans could shine. The night was filled with laughter, a little healthy competition, plenty of bubbly, and, of course, a lot of delicious food!

The goal of the evening was to raise money for two incredible charities: Tommy’s and Team Evo MND.

Tommy’s
Tommy’s is an amazing charity dedicated to funding research into why pregnancies go wrong and providing support for families affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, and premature birth. They aim to reduce the number of babies who die during pregnancy or birth, and they work tirelessly to provide families with the care and support they need during such a difficult time.

Supporting Tommy’s means that Inspired Dental Care isn’t just raising money but also offering hope to countless families who need it the most. Their work is crucial in ensuring that every pregnancy has the best chance for a healthy outcome.

Team Evo MND
Team Evo supports Peter “Evo” Eveleigh, a beloved family man who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2022 at just 31 years old. Evo is a husband and father, and his story has inspired us all to rally behind his fight against this devastating condition.

MND is a terminal condition with no known cause or cure, and its effects are heart-breaking. Through Team Evo, we aim to raise awareness of MND and provide support to Evo and his family, helping with medical costs and other expenses. At IDC, we were honoured to play a small part in this fight, and every penny raised at the quiz night went to support Evo and his family.

Charity Raffle for Christmas Hampers
In addition to the quiz night, Shauna took it a step further by organising a charity raffle to raise more funds for Tommy’s and Team Evo. The prize was a luxurious Christmas hamper full of fantastic goodies, which included:

• A Mini Jimmy Choo perfume clutch bag
• A Lacoste laptop bag
• Too Faced Cosmetics
• A handmade sterling silver necklace from DawnGillDesigns
• A box of chocolates from Hotel Chocolat
• £50 in ITSU Exeter vouchers
• Two free cinema tickets from Exeter Picturehouse
• A £60 Artigianos drinks menu voucher and a bag of coffee
• A £40 Oral-B Pro Series 3 electric toothbrush- and much more

The raffle tickets sold quickly, and the lucky winner, one of our lovely patients, was thrilled with the prize. More importantly, the raffle raised a significant amount of money, all of which was split between Tommy’s and Team Evo, allowing us to further support these two deserving causes.

Charity Sweepstake for Breast Cancer Awareness
Throughout the year, we’ve continued to raise money for breast cancer awareness in a fun and interactive way. At the start of the year, we launched a Charity Sweepstake in which participants guessed the name of our clinic’s resident crocodile. Whoever guessed the correct name won an Oral-B electric toothbrush (a fitting prize, given our line of work!).

All the proceeds from the sweepstake are going to breast cancer awareness, helping us stay engaged with this important cause while adding a little excitement to our clinic visits.

2024: A Year of Giving Back
As we look back on 2024, we are proud of the contributions we have made to these incredible charities. Through events like Wear It Pink Friday, the Big Fat Charity Quiz Night, the Christmas hamper raffle, and our ongoing sweepstakes, we have raised much-needed funds and brought awareness to some truly important causes. But for us, it’s not just about the money raised—it’s about the sense of community and support that these events foster, and the positive impact we can make on the lives of others.

Why We Support Charities
At Inspired Dental Care, we believe that it’s essential to support both large, well-known charities and smaller, local causes. Supporting local charities helps us to connect with the community and make a direct impact on the lives of those around us. While large charities like Tommy’s offer vital resources and research on a national scale, smaller causes like Team Evo allow us to make a personal difference in the lives of those we know and care about.
